The response request came in as a standard call, and nothing was mentioned about any weapons. However, upon arriving to the location and making contact with the suspect it was quickly observed that the homeless woman (who has a history of methamphetamine use as well as mental illness) had not one, but two large knives – a butcher knife and a large filet knife. This type of contact is unfortunately growing more common here in Santa Clarita. It illustrates why it is never a good idea to make contact with an unknown person yourself if they are trespassing on your property. There is no way to know what mental state the person may be in, if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, if they are armed, their previous criminal history, or what their intentions are. Our Vanguard Protection officer safely handled the response call, and our clients were once again kept safe. If you have had issues with transients or other people trespassing on your property in Santa Clarita, please contact us to discuss the problem and see how we can help address the issue. Remember, not only is it a huge liability for you or an employee to handle yourself, but it is also dangerous and unsafe. #vanguardprotection #keepingourclientssafe #ServiceWithIntegrity #santaclaritasecurity

Last week Vanguard Protection officers were dispatched to a client property on Soledad Canyon Road to investigate a reported disturbance involving two subjects and a motorcycle in the parking lot. Upon arriving, the officers located the reported subjects conducting mechanical work on a motorcycle and began questioning them about the reported disturbance. One of the subjects started acting nervously, grabbing at an object concealed in his pants. When the officer questioned him about his behavior, the subject admitted to having a firearm down the front of his pants. The officer then removed the weapon, finding it to be an airsoft gun. Upon receiving consent, a search of the subject’s vehicle (a pick-up truck parked near the motorcycle) was conducted. Inside, the officers located a pepper ball gun, a large machete, burglary tools, and a stun gun. When questioned further about the motorcycle, it was found that neither subject had the keys or ownership documents, nor could they provide a plausible reason for it to be parked on the property.

The Officers then contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department and provided them with the VIN from the motorcycle. It was found that the motorcycle was listed as stolen, and by suspects whose description matched those of the two subjects near the motorcycle. Both suspects were then placed under arrest for possession of the stolen motorcycle and transferred to the custody of the Sheriff’s department.
