ATTEMPTED BURGLARY ARREST

Earlier this week, Vanguard Protection Patrol Officers assigned to the Valencia patrol area responded to reports of a male subject attempting to break into residences in a client’s gated community. Arriving shortly after the initial call, an Officer located the subject in the bushes along side a residence within the community, surrounded by the residents who had initially placed the call. The officer was able to order the suspect out of the bushes and place him under arrest without incident. It was later found that the suspect had claimed to be a Police Officer and have a handgun on his person. Additionally, the suspect was reported to have threatened several of the residents with physical harm and to kill the arresting Officer. The Suspect was transferred to the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarita Station, pending charges of attempted burglary, criminal threats, and trespassing. https://vanguardprotectiongroup.com/blog/

Upon arrival, the Officer found a crowd of bystanders gathered around a male/white/adult wearing only a pair of shorts; the subject was sitting on a ledge with a woman holding his upper body upright and yelling for the male to wake up. The Officer quickly determined that the male was not breathing, unresponsive, and in need of immediate life-saving care. He immediately requested medical assistance and began rendering aid to the male subject. Eventually, the male began breathing again and was stabilized until fire fighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived and transported the subject to the hospital for emergency treatment. #vanguardprotection #ServiceWithIntegrity #keepingourclientssafe #santaclaritasecurity

THE UNSEEN DANGER OF TRANSIENTS

The response request came in as a standard call, and nothing was mentioned about any weapons. However, upon arriving to the location and making contact with the suspect it was quickly observed that the homeless woman (who has a history of methamphetamine use as well as mental illness) had not one, but two large knives – a butcher knife and a large filet knife. This type of contact is unfortunately growing more common here in Santa Clarita. It illustrates why it is never a good idea to make contact with an unknown person yourself if they are trespassing on your property. There is no way to know what mental state the person may be in, if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, if they are armed, their previous criminal history, or what their intentions are. Our Vanguard Protection officer safely handled the response call, and our clients were once again kept safe. If you have had issues with transients or other people trespassing on your property in Santa Clarita, please contact us to discuss the problem and see how we can help address the issue. Remember, not only is it a huge liability for you or an employee to handle yourself, but it is also dangerous and unsafe. #vanguardprotection #keepingourclientssafe #ServiceWithIntegrity #santaclaritasecurity

Last week Vanguard Protection officers were dispatched to a client property on Soledad Canyon Road to investigate a reported disturbance involving two subjects and a motorcycle in the parking lot. Upon arriving, the officers located the reported subjects conducting mechanical work on a motorcycle and began questioning them about the reported disturbance. One of the subjects started acting nervously, grabbing at an object concealed in his pants. When the officer questioned him about his behavior, the subject admitted to having a firearm down the front of his pants. The officer then removed the weapon, finding it to be an airsoft gun. Upon receiving consent, a search of the subject’s vehicle (a pick-up truck parked near the motorcycle) was conducted. Inside, the officers located a pepper ball gun, a large machete, burglary tools, and a stun gun. When questioned further about the motorcycle, it was found that neither subject had the keys or ownership documents, nor could they provide a plausible reason for it to be parked on the property.

The Officers then contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department and provided them with the VIN from the motorcycle. It was found that the motorcycle was listed as stolen, and by suspects whose description matched those of the two subjects near the motorcycle. Both suspects were then placed under arrest for possession of the stolen motorcycle and transferred to the custody of the Sheriff’s department.

Reporting parties stated that they had caught a person looking through their windows and had detained him while awaiting assistance. While en-route to the call, Vanguard Protection officers were updated that the man was being beaten by one or more people from the group. Upon arriving to the call location, officers discovered a large mob of people surrounding a single male victim who was bleeding in the middle of the street. After alerting the Los Angeles Country Sheriff’s Department, Vanguard Protection officers were able to push the crowd back and render assistance to the victim, who had sustained significant injuries to his head and face. After turning the victim over to Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics for medical treatment, Vanguard Protection Officers assisted the investigating Sheriff’s deputies in controlling bystanders and collecting statements from witnesses.

Recently a Vanguard Protection Patrol Officer assigned to the Canyon Country patrol area was conducting a patrol of a client property near Soledad Blvd. and Vilna Ave. He observed a subject known to have been involved in prior criminal contacts on the property, and stopped to speak with him. Upon confirming the suspect’s identity and seeing a signed arrest warning in our database, the officer made an attempt to place the suspect in custody. However, while placing the suspect in handcuffs he broke the Officer’s grip in an attempt evade arrest. The suspect then attacked the Officer and during the struggle, he attempted to remove the Officer’s service weapon from its holster. The Officer utilized defensive tactics taught to him during his Vanguard training program and was able to block the suspects attempt and after a brief struggle, was able to subdue the suspect and place him in handcuffs.

During a search of the area near where the suspect was contacted, Officers found a claw hammer and a large grocery bag containing over one pound of marijuana. The suspect was later transferred to the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department pending prosecution on criminal trespassing, assault, and battery charges.

ON AUGUST 3RD 2021 AT APPX 0252 HOURS, A VANGUARD PROTECTION OFFICER WAS PATROLLING A CLIENT PROPERTY IN SANTA CLARITA WHEN HE OBSERVED A MALE SUBJECT LAYING ON THE GROUND. BELIEVING IT MAY BE A TRANSIENT, HE WALKED OVER TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE INDIVIDUAL.

UPON GETTING CLOSER, HE OBSERVED THAT THE MALE APPEARED TO BE EITHER SEVERELY INTOXICATED OR POSSIBLY INJURED. THE OFFICER ATTEMPTED TO WAKE UP THE SUBJECT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BUT THE MALE WAS UNRESPONSIVE. WHILE STILL BREATHING, THE MALE COULD BE HEARD STRUGGLING TO BREATHE AND APPEARED TO BE SUFFERING FROM SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS THAN JUST LIQUOR INTOXICATION.

A CALL WAS PLACED TO THE LASD AND LAFD FOR MEDICAL UNITS TO RESPOND. SHORTLY THEREAFTER LAFD PARAMEDICS ARRIVED AND TOOK THE SUBJECT’S VITALS, STATING THAT THE MALE “DIDN’T HAVE MUCH LONGER TO LIVE” AND THAT OUR OFFICER “SAVED HIS LIFE.” THE MALE SUBJECT WAS THEN RUSHED TO HENRY MAYO HOSPITAL IN SANTA CLARITA FOR TREATMENT. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE MALE HAD  OVERDOSED ON FENTANYL.

***UPDATE*** WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE MALE WAS SUCCESSFULLY TREATED AT THE HOSPITAL AND WILL MAKE A FULL RECOVERY.
